How to remove a wall mural
Removing a peel and stick wall mural is generally easier compared to traditional wallpaper since there’s no adhesive residue to deal with. Follow the step-by-step guide on removing a peel and stick wallpaper from the surface.
Start at a Corner: Begin by selecting a corner of the decal or mural to start the removal process. Select a edge where you get a good grip to start the removal. It should be bottom left or bottom right.
Peel Slowly: Gently peel back the corner of the wall mural or decal, pulling it away from the wall at a 45-degree angle. Take your time to avoid damaging the wall or tearing the mural. First try to remove the small patch to check the surface damage.
Use Heat (If Necessary): If the wall mural is not coming off easily, you can use heat to help loosen the adhesive. Apply a hairdryer or heat gun set to a low or medium heat setting directly onto the panel as you peel it back. The heat will soften the adhesive, making it easier to remove.
Continue Peeling: Slowly and steadily continue peeling the mural or decal from the wall, working your way across the surface. Use your free hand to hold down the wall mural as you peel to minimize stretching or tearing.
Remove Any Residue: Once the decal or mural is fully removed, check the wall for any adhesive residue. If you find residue, use a mild adhesive remover to gently wipe away the remaining adhesive. Be careful not to damage the wall surface while doing this.
Clean the Wall: After removing the mural and any residue, clean the wall thoroughly to ensure it’s ready for a new application or finish. After cleaning allow it to dry completely.
Book Our Team for Removal Services
We offer installation and removal services for decals, graphics, windows, and cars. Printing a good quality design is not only important if it doesn’t install well. You can also install yourself if it is a small decal or sticker. For large printing, we recommend you to hire a professional for the wall decal installation. The wall decal installation also depends on the type of surface, if it is indoors or outdoor.
We are a team of professionals who have installed approximately 900 designs and they install 3-5 projects in a week. For large projects, you can request a site survey. That’s a $175 fee which will be deducted if you end up ordering a large project with us. Our team will come, bring samples, ideas, measuring the wall, and test the vinyl’s graphics. Through the site survey, you will get an idea about the material type and sizes. Our team will take the measurements and will also show you the options.
